Liverpool don’t plan to sell Naby Keita in January amid links with a move to the likes of Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds should have a big upheaval in midfield next year.

Arthur Melo’s loan move will be over whilst James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are all out of contract.

Seeing all three leave for nothing may sting a little but Liverpool seemingly don’t want to cash in right now.

Liverpool don’t plan to sell Naby Keita

Fabrizio Romano has told Caught Offside that Liverpool have no plans to sell midfielder Keita during the January transfer window.

Romano suggests that Liverpool may be more open to selling Oxlade-Chamberlain or Nat Phillips in January but Keita isn’t expected to go.

Liverpool may well believe that, given time, they can thrash out a deal and convince Keita to sign a new contract.

Alternatively, Liverpool may believe that they need to keep Keita for the second half of the season, even if that means losing him for nothing.

Keita made a big move from RB Leipzig as Liverpool agreed to pay £53million in 2017 before he joined a year later.

The Guinean arrived as one of the most promising box-to-box players in Europe having excelled with Leipzig but it just hasn’t happened at Liverpool.

There have been moments and certain games where Keita has shown his quality and left Liverpool fans thinking he would finally find consistency.

Those have been false dawns though and Keita has always left Liverpool fans wanting more.

There is interest elsewhere though and 90Min claim that Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in Keita.

Those clubs may try their luck for Keita in January but it now seems more likely that they will need to wait until summer to make their moves for him.
