Liverpool have been tipped to bring Julian Brandt to the Premier League for some time and he is shining in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen.

Reports from Bild on Wednesday should have clubs from all over Europe taking note. After all, it is not often a player with the talent and potential of Julien Brant is available for around £22 million.

It is reported that the German winger has a release clause in his Bayer Leverkusen contract which will become active in the summer. Considering that Brandt has been in sensational form in the first few weeks of 2019, this will surely not go unnoticed – particularly at Anfield.

Liverpool have long been linked with Brandt after all, the Daily Star reporting that he was on their radar last summer.

12 months on, he looks like a better investment than ever given that he will be available for far less than Aston Villa would demand for Jack Grealish, for example.

Versatile, quick, hard-working and blessed with plenty of technical ability, Brandt is pretty much everything Jurgen Klopp asks for in an attacker. He also has seven goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season, not to mention picking up 23 caps for the German national team – no small achievement given the depth of talent available to Joachim Low.

With doubts surrounding the future of Adam Lallana, and with Xherdan Shaqiri looking a better fit in a deeper role, Brandt’s arrival would take the pressure off Liverpool’s overused front three.

For £22 million, this is an opportunity that should not be missed.
