Liverpool missed out on Leroy Sane to Manchester City, and can’t afford to lose out on the latest German sensation to Tottenham.

Manager Jurgen Klopp speaks to the media during the Liverpool FC Press Conference at Anfield on August 22, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was the high profile arrival fans wanted to replace Brendan Rodgers, but he has enjoyed mixed success.

Fans had hoped his big reputation would give Liverpool the pick of the Bundesliga’s top talent, but they missed out on Germany’s brightest prospect to Manchester City.

City paid £37 million to sign Leroy Sane last summer, despite Klopp’s pal David Wagner telling the Liverpool Echo that he recommended the Schalke winger to the Liverpool boss.

Now Liverpool have been linked with Germany’s latest top talent, Werder Bremen wonderkid David Philipp.

The Mirror report via Sky Deutschland that Tottenham and Liverpool are both eyeing Philipp, who is just 16.

He scored 18 goals and provided 21 assists for Bremen’s academy side last season and is understandably attracting interest.

Sooner or later Klopp needs to use his connections to move for one of Germany’s top talents.

Failure to land Sane already came back to haunt the Reds when he netted twice in a 5-0 win for City over Liverpool earlier this month.

Liverpool cannot let Tottenham get their hands on a top talent like Philipp and must put Klopp to work to try and land him ahead of their competitors.
