Mukesh Ambani is interested in taking over Liverpool and has already mane an enquiry into purchasing the Reds from the Fenway Sports Group.

FSG have been in power at Anfield for over 10 years now but they may now try to move the club on.

The Athletic have reported that FSG are now open to selling Liverpool or receiving new investment to try and take the club forward.

It’s unclear just who would have the funds to come in and buy Liverpool but one potential suitor appears to be emerging.

Mukesh Ambani is interested in taking over Liverpool

The Mirror report that Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani has now registered his interest in taking over Liverpool.

It’s stated that Ambani is worth around £90billion, which puts him tenth on the Forbes rich list.

Ambani’s wealth mostly comes from Reliance Industries, which is the largest company in India as measured by revenue.

The report claims that Ambani has already made a first move towards a deal by lodging an enquiry into Liverpool with his interest in a takeover seemingly strong.

Ambani is understood to be a ‘huge sports fan’ and he already owns the Mumbai Indians of the IPL in cricket.

Ambani faces competition from other interested parties in the Middle East and USA but Ambani will be a strong suitor given his wealth.

FSG allegedly want around £4billion for Liverpool and Ambani would seemingly be able to strike that kind of deal.

FSG stand to make a huge profit on Liverpool as they seemingly back away given the funding needed to challenge with teams like Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Ambani’s wealth would give Liverpool much more spending power in the transfer market and a deal would make him another Indian owner in English football, joining the Venky’s at Blackburn Rovers.

Ambani was loosely linked with Liverpool back in 2010 but the time may now be right for him to pull off a deal for the Reds.
