A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool…
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has been speaking about the Reds’ match-winner against Sunderland, Lazar Markovic.
The Serbian winger scored the only goal of the game against the Black Cats and his Brazilian teammate was impressed by his showing.
In an interview with LFC.com, Lucas said, “We know the Premier League is a hard league to come and play in straight away, so he’s just improving all the time and today he showed again that he could be very important for the future of the club.”
Markovic has now made 19 appearances for the Reds, scoring two goals in that time, and the way he performed on Saturday suggests the 20-year-old has a very bright future at Anfield.
In other news, the Mirror reports that Liverpool are prepared to bid £7.5million to sign Fabian Delph as a long-term replacement for the departing Steven Gerrard.
The report goes on to claim that Liverpool had initially planned to wait until the summer but Gerrard’s announcement could see them bid for the England international this month.
