Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been speaking to the club’s official website about the Reds’ fine form this season.
While many feel they have turned a corner this campaign, Gerrard believes it goes back further than that, with Liverpool performing well at the tail-end of last season, too.
“I think that’s down to the manager,” the England international said. “Everyone is taking (his ideas) on board and putting that into practice.
“I’d go further back than this season. I think it’s been the last 18 months. I remember us finishing last season very strongly and very consistently, and I think we’ve taken that into this year.”
Now the only question left is whether Gerrard can finally get his hands on the Premier League trophy – and few would begrudge him that honour if he does.
In other news, Iago Aspas reportedly wants out of Liverpool despite only arriving at the club last summer in a £7.7million move.
The Express runs an interview Aspas gave to FTBpro, in which he is quoted as saying, “I’m not 20 years old anymore. I can’t go on loan and explode.
“I think the best would be to transfer to another club, that I find the best fit for myself and the club.
“This is the hardest part. I used to play nearly all the matches and I arrived here, playing much less. This is the tough side of football.”
