Liverpool want Moises Caicedo but ultimately believe that the Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder is going to end up joining Chelsea.

That’s according to Liverpool journalist David Lynch, who has been speaking to Liverpool’s Official Supports Club in Norway.

Lynch claims that Liverpool have been in contact with Caicedo’s representatives to gauge interest in a move to Anfield.

However, Liverpool’s expectation is that Caicedo will end up joining Chelsea instead.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter coached Caicedo at Brighton and a reunion would make plenty of sense as the Blues look to splash the cash.

N’Golo Kante isn’t quite the force he was and with his contract expiring in the summer, Caicedo could bring much-needed energy to the Chelsea midfield.

Moises Caicedo won’t come cheap for Chelsea or Liverpool

The Mirror reported over the weekend that Brighton are now seeking around £65million for Caicedo at the end of the season.

That’s allegedly a £20million price cut from what Brighton were initially demanding, but it’s still an enormous outlay.

Liverpool are seeking midfield reinforcements but there appear to be other players higher on the wish list right now.

Borussia Dortmund ace Jude Bellingham is of course the top target, but may well take up most of Liverpool’s budget.

Wolves star Matheus Nunes has been heavily linked in recent weeks and could be around £20million cheaper than Caicedo – without having to fight Chelsea for him.

Add in links to Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners – around £30million cheaper than Caicedo – and Liverpool seem to be moving on.

The Ecuador star has become one of the Premier League’s top young midfielders and Liverpool would no doubt love to bring him to Anfield.

Yet with Chelsea throwing cash at the transfer market like it’s going out of fashion, Liverpool are seemingly looking elsewhere and forgetting about Caicedo.
