Liverpool could now miss out on Mohammed Kudus with Borussia Dortmund advancing their negotiations over a deal for the World Cup sensation.

As expected, a number of players have really made names for themselves off the back of shining at the World Cup.

This happens at every major tournament and scouts will have been dazzled by a couple of Eredivisie stars.

PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo has excelled for the Netherlands whilst Ajax talent Mohammed Kudus was superb for Ghana.

Liverpool could now miss out on Mohammed Kudus

Kudus scored twice in a 3-2 win over South Korea, bagging a glancing header to make it 2-0 and a fine left-footed finish to win it.

The 22-year-old really carried his Ajax form into his World Cup campaign.

Kudus has racked up 10 goals and two assists in 21 first-team appearances for Ajax, putting together an outstanding season in the Netherlands.

Kudus has played as a number 10, false nine and now wide man, showing his ability to be a truly versatile attacking threat.

There has now been major interest in Kudus ahead of the January transfer window.

Sports World Ghana reported last month that Liverpool were scouting Kudus at the World Cup.

90Min claim that Liverpool have been impressed with Kudus at the World Cup having already seen him score at Anfield this season.

Yet if Liverpool are trying to sign Kudus, they will need to beat Jurgen Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund in the race.

Sport Bild report that Dortmund are accelerating their talks to sign Kudus after the World Cup.

Sporting director Sebastian Kehl is in close contact with Kudus’s agent and Dortmund also have Otto Addo – who coached Ghana and Kudus at the World Cup – on their coaching staff.

It’s also noted that Dortmund can easily meet Ajax’s demands because they will soon have a huge fee coming in for Jude Bellingham.

That at least indicates that Dortmund are already planning for Bellingham’s exit with Liverpool near the front of the queue for his signature.

Liverpool may miss out on Kudus, but if it means they sign Bellingham, most Reds fans would be ecstatic.
