Liverpool have sold Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich with Mohamed Salah giving him an emotional send-off this afternoon.
The Reds learned of Mane’s desire to leave Anfield shortly after their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.
Mane’s most likely destination was clear; he wanted a move to Bayern Munich.
Mane enjoyed his time in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg and is now just about an hour and a half away from his former home having completed his move.
Liverpool have sold Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich
Liverpool have today confirmed that Mane has left the club for Bayern after six years at Anfield.
The Senegalese attacker racked up 120 goals and 38 assists in 269 games for Liverpool, becoming a Reds hero.
Mane was particularly outstanding in the second half of this past season, thriving as a central striker.
Now a Bayern player after a £35million deal, Mane will be looking to take that Premier League form to the Bundesliga.
Mane would have been out of contract next summer, so Liverpool decided to take the cash and move on.
This is still an emotional departure though, given that Mane has been one of the posters boys of the Jurgen Klopp era.

Liverpool hero Mohamed Salah has now taken to Twitter to say his goodbyes to Mane.
Salah thanked Mane for ‘all the good times’ whilst wishing him all the best at Bayern.
Salah added that Mane will be missed by everybody at Liverpool having been a part of the furniture at Anfield since 2016.
There were ups and downs between Salah and Mane, with the latter sometimes a little frustrated at Salah’s perceived greediness.
Mane played down any lasting issues with Salah and it’s clear that the pair have great respect for each other; sadly, we won’t see the pair in Liverpool shirts together again.
That’s upsetting for Liverpool fans, but probably a moment of joy for Premier League defences.
