The contract situation of Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah is attracting global interest, with Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies having his say.
Salah has been one of the world’s best players, producing moments of magic throughout a sublime campaign.
The Egyptian star has racked up a ridiculous 28 goals in 35 appearances for Liverpool this season, as well as recording 10 assists.
Clearly one of the top players around right now, Salah unsurprisingly wants to be paid like it.
Out of contract in 2023, Salah can soon leave Liverpool for absolutely nothing unless a new deal can be sorted out quickly.
You can imagine that, should Salah become a free agent, the world’s biggest clubs will be queueing up to offer him huge money.
Fabrizio Romano now claims that talks over a new deal with Liverpool have stalled and even broken down since December.
Salah allegedly has no intention of signing a new deal on the current terms offered by Liverpool, leaving many to worry about his future.
The common thought process will be that Salah is one of the top players in the world so Liverpool simply have to pay him whatever it takes to keep him.
Yet Liverpool do place a strong emphasis on analytics and many models will suggest that players face a real decline heading into their 30’s – Salah is 29.
Arsenal were burned by giving big new deals to Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in similar situations, but some like Jamie Vardy, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have excelled well into their 30’s.
It’s unclear which way Salah will go, and that’s for Liverpool tor try and predict as they weigh up their next move.
The situation is attracting interest around Europe, with Bayern Munich left back Alphonso Davies now offering his opinion.
Davies, the fastest player in the world, took to Twitch to offer his opinion on the latest news about Salah.
Davies had a fairly simple take, stating that Liverpool need to pay Salah his money and give him what he’s worth.
“So Mo Salah wants to stay but he has rejected the last offer – hey, give the guy his money man,” said Davies.
Whether FSG agree remains to be seen, but letting Salah walk for nothing likely wouldn’t go down very well at all.
