Liverpool miss out on Turkish target

Reported Liverpool target Gokhan Tore has signed for Rubin Kazan.

Last week we relayed the news that Liverpool were considering former Chelsea youngster Gokhan Tore as an option on the wing.

The right winger had a very promising debut season for Hamburg, providing 6 assists in 16 games, before getting injured.

With the German club running into financial difficulty, Tore found himself on the market, and Turkish-Football.co.uk reported Brendan Rodgers to be eyeing him up.

Fans commented on our story describing him as a potential ‘fantastic buy’ adding he would be a ‘clever addition…full of skill and fast.’

The 20-year-old has now made his move, to a club far away from Anfield.

He has signed for Russian club Rubin Kazan for £5 million, a fee which could be a bargain.

There is good news for one Premier League club; his former side Chelsea are to net £2.5 million from the sale thanks to a 50 per cent sell on clause in his contract.

As for Liverpool, if they want to sign wingers, they will have to turn attentions elsewhere. Surely back up for Downing needs to be bought, or a star who would make Downing a back up himself.

Otherwise calls will only grow for Raheem Sterling to be thrown into action the moment the former Aston Villa man begins to disappoint again.

Have Liverpool missed out on a bargain? Who should they sign on the wing?
