Speaking on The Overlap, Jamie Carragher has been discussing Liverpool’s chances of getting past Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Los Blancos have continuously gotten the better of Liverpool in recent years. They’ve knocked the Reds out of this competition three times since 2018, and they will be looking to repeat the trick once again this time around.
However, Carragher is feeling fairly confident going into this game, despite Liverpool’s poor start to the season.
Indeed, the pundit has claimed that this is a 50/50 match, stating that the Reds may well have made some additions to their team by the time this game rolls around.

Carragher’s Champions League claim
The Anfield legend discussed his former team’s chances against Madrid.
“These games are three months away. We have a World Cup, you don’t know who’ll be in and out. Liverpool might have bought a midfielder by then. They’ll have Diaz back and Jota back I think it’s almost a 50/50 game really,” Carragher said.
Never write them off
We should all know by now that Liverpool should not be written off in the Champions League under any circumstances.
The Reds are one of the most successful teams in the history of this competition for a reason, and it’s impossible to say that they won’t win any given tie.
The Merseyside club have made their name as one of the game’s great odds-defying teams, and while they go into this game as the underdogs, the Anfield atmosphere on a big European night is a great leveller.
As Carragher says, this is a true 50/50 tie. It could go either way and it should make for one of the most entertaining matches of the competition this year.
