Liverpool signed Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle United last week, despite interest from Everton.

Georginio Wijnaldum has confirmed to the Liverpool Echo that Everton were interested in signing him, prior to his move to Liverpool.
Wijnaldum made the switch from Newcastle United to Liverpool last week, for a fee of around £25 million.
The attacking midfielder claims that Everton had attempted to sign him, but from the moment he met with Jurgen Klopp, he knew that Anfield was the place where he wanted to be.

“There was interest from Everton but Liverpool had more interest,” the Dutch international said. “Jurgen gave me a good feeling in that conversation. Straight after that I had the feeling that I wanted to come to Liverpool.
“Of course Liverpool is a big club with a good history. Everyone knows that. But there had to be a match.
“He’s in charge and if a great trainer like him wants you then it gives you more confidence to come to a club like this.”
Everton appear to have moved on to look at other targets, following Wijnaldum’s move to Liverpool.

The Toffees have been linked with Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson in The Sun.
Wijnaldum, meanwhile, has linked up with Liverpool’s team for the first time during their tour of the United States.
The former Newcastle man has been training with his new teammates, as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
Wijnaldum scored 11 Premier League goals for Newcastle last term.
