Liverpool midfielder says he could still sign a deal with the Reds.

Emre Can has been enjoying a good season for Liverpool, but this season could be his last for the Merseyside club. The worst part – he could leave for nothing.

He will be a free agent at the end of this season, and his contract stand-off with Liverpool means he is likely to leave Anfield next summer.

Talks over a new deal have been going on since 2016, and Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that he wants the 23-year-old to stay at the club, but there has hardly been any progress on that front.

According to Liverpool Echo, the major stumbling block in the deal has been his agent’s desire for a release clause.

Can will be avilable to sign a pre-contract with any foreign club next month. Juventus are reportedly the front-runners to secure his signature.

The Germany international, who has 20 caps under his belt, revealed that he could sign a pre-contract with another club, but has not ruled out the possibility of signing a deal with the Reds as well.

“Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest,” said Can, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“It is not about money, that’s all I can say. Yes I could (sign a pre-contract with another club next month), but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We’ll see.”
