The Premier League season is now five games old and whilst it is too early in the season to be making assumptions about who will finish where or who the stars of the show will be come the end of the campaign, it is still interesting to see how the statistics are shaping up at this early stage of the season.

So which player in the Premier League is the passing king after five games of the season?

You might expect to see a Manchester City star heading up the list, but in fact it is Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson who tops the statistics.

The Liverpool and England midfielder, who recently scored a wondergoal against Chelsea, has made 27 more accurate passes this season then his nearest rival – who just happens to be a player from Merseyside rivals Everton in Idrissa Gana Gueye.

They are the only two players in the league to make over 300 accurate passes this season. The rest of the top five includes the much improved Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, Manchester City’s Fernandinho and Arsenal pendulum Santi Cazorla.

Liverpool fans will certainly be pleased to see such impressive statistics from their midfield maestro.

If he can keep up his form then Liverpool might just make a push for the title this campaign.
