A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Tuesday morning.

The news surrounding Liverpool this morning is dominated by talk about future of Raheem Sterling, after the BBC, among other media outlets, reported that Raheem Sterling will holds talks with the club on Friday, and will ask to leave Anfield.

This comes after protracted contract negotiations as the Reds seek to extend the two years currently left on his deal, but there are other stories and rumours.

Manchester City midfielder James Milner has been linked with a move to Liverpool for much of the second half of the season on a free transfer, but City have tried their best to keep hold of him, with several newspapers reporting the midfielder has been offered a new, improved deal at the Etihad Stadium.

The Mirror has reported that Milner has been offered £165,000 per week to stay at City, but says he will reject it and could join Liverpool for less money because the Reds are prepared to play him in his preferred position.

The Daily Mail has linked the Reds with a move for City forward Edin Dzeko, as they look to offload their Italian strike duo Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli.

Balotelli has been linked with a move to Sampdoria by the Mirror, and Liverpool were also linked with Stevan Jovetic on Sunday evening, with the Mail‘s report saying City would want £20 million for the player, higher than the £12 million that was mooted.

Dzeko himself is set to command a fee of around £25 million, while the Mail has said the Reds are interested in Burnley’s Danny Ings and Christian Benteke from Aston Villa.

Finally, Liverpool have offered a trial to Torquay United goalkeeper Daniel Lavercombe, according to the Liverpool Echo.

He will spend this week with the club before Liverpool consider whether or not to pursue the permanent transfer of the 18-year-old.

Torquay boss Chris Hargreaves is quoted, saying: “Liverpool have had him watched and like him, and they have asked us if they can have a closer look at him.

“It’s a win-win situation for us. The worst that can happen is that Dan gets more good experience, a bit of Liverpool FC rubs off on him and he comes back to us the better for it.”
