According to a report by German outlet Bild, Liverpool are interested in bringing England winger Jadon Sancho to Anfield this summer.

The winger could be brought in if Mohamed Salah is sold at the end of the season, and while there are pros and cons to swapping Salah for Sancho, there has to be an element of excitement about what Sancho could bring to Liverpool.

The Reds have needed to reinvigorate their front three for a little while now, and signing one of the brightest 21-year-olds on the planet would certainly be a big boost for the Reds.

However, the arrival of Sancho gets that much more exciting when you realise who he could be linking up with at Liverpool.

Indeed, while the idea of Sancho playing alongside the likes of Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota. In our view, it’s the prospect of Sancho lining up alongside Harvey Elliott that is the most mouth-watering.

The pair have a combined age of just 39, and they’re both supremely talented with Sancho ripping up the Bundesliga for years now, while Elliott has been nominated for the EFL Young Player of the Year award in his first season of senior football.

Yes, Elliott isn’t quite at Sancho’s level yet, but there is reason to believe he one day will be. After all, he is the youngest player to ever appear in the Premier League and as we say, he’s been shining at Blackburn this season.

These two could genuinely be the future of the England national team, and we’ve not seen two young, English talents link up like this at Liverpool since the partnership of Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen.

Of course, with Elliott and Sancho being wingers, they’re bound to be a different partnership to Fowler and Owen, but that’s more a bi-product modern football has moved towards key attacking players playing out wide rather than through the middle.

Fowler and Owen were both young English talents lighting things up at Liverpool, and while we’ve had other English talents line up at Liverpool such as Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge, none have been able to have the long-term impact of Fowler and Owen.

Sancho and Elliott could see Liverpool return to a time where two of the best young English attackers turn out at Anfield, and that’s something we’re sure every Liverpool fan would love to see.
