Liverpool want Matheus Nunes and boss Jurgen Klopp has been spotted giving the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder a trademark hug.
That’s according to The Times, who claim that Klopp had an embrace with the Wolves ace following Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Anfield.
Now, it’s unclear whether Klopp went doing the rounds hugging all of the Wolves players but this will set tongues wagging.
Still, the report notes that Liverpool are trying to sign Nunes in a £44million deal this summer, something in which Klopp is surely involved.
We’re not expecting Klopp to be whispering sweet nothings to Nunes or tapping him up, but few could blame the German for saying ‘save us’ in the Portuguese star’s ear.
Liverpool’s midfield continues to look flat and uninspired; the names and the faces change by the week as Klopp seeks a winning combination, but the performances are staying the same.
Liverpool have to overhaul their midfield options this in 2023 and Nunes figures to be a key player in their transfer plans.

Matheus Nunes made big impact against Liverpool
Liverpool can’t sign Nunes this month. The 24-year-old has played for Sporting and Wolves this season so can’t join another club.
The Reds will have to wait until summer but they certainly need somebody to make an impact right now.
We know that Klopp likes a hug – they have become famous at Liverpool in recent years.
That doesn’t mean that Wolves fans should be saying goodbye to Nunes right now, but appreciation for his performance is natural.
Nunes only came on as a substitute on 62 minutes but he made a real impact for Wolves.
Nunes completed three dribbles in his brief stint on the pitch, which is as many as the entire Liverpool team combined.
Add in a key pass and three tackles and you start to understand why Nunes is so highly rated.
Maybe Liverpool think that he can be their new Georginio Wijnaldum moving forward, a player that Klopp appears to be missing right now.
