Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid striker Matheus Cunha – but so have Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
That’s according to 90Min as they claim that Liverpool have been presented with an opportunity to move for Cunha.
Atletico seem very keen to offload Cunha in January and it has been expected for a couple of weeks now that he will join Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, Cunha wants to explore all of his options and it looks like there are many in the Premier League.
Aston Villa, Everton and Leeds United are all allegedly very active in their pursuit of signing Cunha.
Then the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and even Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Cunha.
Newcastle may well be interested if they don’t receive some encouraging news about Alexander Isak’s injury situation any time soon.
As for Liverpool, they may actually be interested in Cunha based on their attempts to sign him earlier this year.

Liverpool allegedly wanted Cunha before Luis Diaz deal
The Reds were looking at bringing in a new attacker during the January transfer window.
Liverpool pounced to sign Luis Diaz from Porto in a deal worth up to £49million with the Colombian making an amazing impact.
Yet before securing that deal for Diaz, Spanish newspaper AS claimed that the Reds made a bid for Atletico forward Cunha.
Diego Simeone’s men just weren’t willing to let Cunha leave only a few months after arriving from Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin.
It would therefore make sense if Liverpool showed an interest in signing Cunha once again now Atletico are open to selling.
Capable of playing across the front line and as a false nine, you can understand why Cunha popped onto Liverpool’s radar in the first place.
Diaz is now injured and if Liverpool could engineer a loan with option to buy for Cunha, it may well be perfect for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
