Marcel Brands has praised Liverpool’s recruitment whilst suggesting that they would be a great club for Cody Gakpo to join in 2023.
The Reds have largely done a great job over the years but do need to line up some deals for next year.
Deals for the likes of Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Fabinho, Thiago, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz have been simply outstanding.
Yet Liverpool do need to retool their midfield in 2023 and there could still be additions in other areas of the pitch.

One area Liverpool could look to bolster is out wide.
Diaz’s injury has left Liverpool exposed on the flanks and Diogo Jota may be seen as more of a striker with Roberto Firmino out of contract next summer.
Another winger could be on the radar for Liverpool and it’s hard to ignore the performances of Cody Gakpo.
The PSV Eindhoven star has been absolutely ridiculous this season, bagging 13 goals and a staggering 17 assists in just 23 games.
Gakpo looks set to shine at the World Cup with the Netherlands and a 2023 move away from PSV is widely expected.
Liverpool surely have Gakpo on their radar and some interesting claims have emerged over in the Netherlands.
Dutch analyst Hans Kraay Jr has been quoted as saying that Pepijn Lijnders – Jurgen Klopp’s assistant at Liverpool – has told him that he thinks Gakpo is the missing link Liverpool need.
That would suggest that Liverpool have a real interest in the Dutch wide man and could move for him in 2023.
PSV director of football Marcel Brands has now had his say in response to those comments.
Brands may be a familiar name to Liverpool fans having previously served as Everton’s director of football.
Brands has been quoted by Voetbal Primeur as saying that he thinks Liverpool are so focused in the transfer market that they are often signing players in advance of when they really want to use them.
The former Everton man added that Liverpool would be a good club to negotiate for in terms of Gakpo’s signature as joining forces with compatriot Lijnders suddenly looks possible.
“Liverpool is a club that is always very focused. Sometimes they get players for the next season in November,” said Brands. “Would they be a good partner to send Gakpo in the summer? Yes, that’s right,” he added.
