Gary Neville has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:24pm, August 15, 2021) that he cannot separate Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United.
The former United star has said that at the moment he cannot say for certain who will finish higher in the Premier League table this season – the Reds or the Red Devils.
Neville said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:24pm, August 15, 2021) when asked who will finish higher, Liverpool or United: “Honestly, I can’t separate them. You should say Liverpool because for obviously what has happened over the last few years.
“Last season was a major blip for them. Van Dijk back, but I think Manchester United will be an improvement on last season. I alluded Liverpool will miss Wijnaldum and they do need a midfield player.”
Who will finish higher?
Both United and Liverpool have started the new season with convincing wins.
While the Red Devils hammered Leeds United, the Reds eased past Norwich City.
United finished second in the Premier League table last season, while Liverpool ended up third.
Klopp’s side had a lot of injuries, but they still finished just five points behind United.
However, Solskjaer has added two big players to his squad this summer.
Winger Jadon Sancho has joined from Borussia Dortmund, and Raphael Varane has moved from Real Madrid.
However, United could do with a proper out-and-out and experienced striker to support Edinson Cavani.
Yes, Liverpool have signed Ibrahima Konate, but he is a defender, and the Reds already had good defenders.
Liverpool also saw midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum leave for Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
