Liverpool want Djordje Petrovic and are battling Manchester United in the race to snap up the Major League Soccer goalkeeper.

Liverpool hammered United 7-0 in a quite remarkable Premier League victory on Sunday.

Yet there could also be a surprise transfer battle materialising between the two famous rivals.

The Mirror report that Liverpool and United both fancy signing New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

It’s suggested that Petrovic is high on the wish lists of both clubs as they consider goalkeeping signings.

Liverpool may fancy Petrovic as backup to Alisson amid questions over the futures of Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian San Miguel.

There are similar doubts over Dean Henderson and Jack Butland at Manchester United, with Petrovic potentially viewed as competition.

Both teams will now scout Petrovic until the end of the English season; after all the new MLS campaign has only just got started.

Liverpool goalkeeper target Djordje Petrovic is highly rated

Petrovicx, 23, emerged in Serbia with Cukaricki and has already picked up two caps for the Serbian national team.

New England Revolution pounced to sign Petrovic in 2022, landing him as the successor to Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner following his move to London.

Petrovic has stepped up admirably and has been earning huge praise.

New England Revolution ace DeJuan Jones hailed Petrovic last summer, praising him as ‘absolutely incredible’.

Jones raved about Petrovic’s ability to keep the Revolution in games added that he is such a ‘big guy’ between the sticks at 6ft 4in tall.

It’s clear that Petrovic has real potential and a Premier League move may well be in his future.

Liverpool don’t really need to think about a successor to Alisson just yet but Petrovic could develop into the Reds’ next great stopper.

After securing a 7-0 win over United, beating them to Petrovic would be pretty nice too.
