Liverpool have completely embarrassed rivals Manchester United once again – and ex-Red Devil Danny Higginbotham has been left in awe.
The Reds hammered United 5-0 at Old Trafford back in October and have now completely quite the double.
Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah had Liverpool 2-0 up before the break. United were better in the second half but couldn’t stop Sadio Mane making it 3-0.
Salah added a fourth, meaning that’s two wins, nine goals scored and none conceded in two games against United this season.
The part that will really frustrate United is that Liverpool weren’t actually all that good for around 25 minutes after half time.
Liverpool became sloppy and lethargic, allowing United to put them under some pressure before Mane’s goal.
Liverpool were never going to be firing on all cylinders for 90 minutes but that brief spell after half time wasn’t great.
United are just so far away from Liverpool right now that they never really looked like scoring even when Jurgen Klopp’s men were off the pace.
Pundit and former Manchester United defender Danny Higginbotham has now taken to Twitter to share his view on Liverpool’s second half display.
Higginbotham suggested that Liverpool simply went into second gear and were still far better than United.
Higginbotham called it ‘cruise control’ from Liverpool as they coasted to a 4-0 thrashing of their old rivals.
The former United man added that the gap between Liverpool and United is simply getting bigger and bigger, stunned that Klopp’s men were able to drop their levels and still pick up a thumping win.
Good luck to Erik ten Hag as he bids to change United’s fortunes this summer.
To close the gap to Klopp and this Liverpool side seems like an unenviable task for anybody right now.
