Liverpool and Manchester City are both keen on striker Hwang Hee-chan as Wolverhampton Wanderers attempt to sign their loanee permanently.

That’s according to The Sunday Mirror (14/11, p70), who claim that Hwang is now a wanted man in the Premier League.

It’s stated that Liverpool and City have had Hwang watched several times this season having shown promise at Wolves.

Hwang is only on loan at Wolves, but they do hold an option to turn his move from RB Leipzig permanent.

Wolves are now scrambling to get that permanent deal done quickly just so there are no complications down the line.

Who knows, maybe Wolves would even choose to sign Hwang permanently and move him on next summer for a quick profit.

Hwang once dazzled in Liverpool’s back yard

With four goals in eight Premier League games, Hwang has enjoyed a great start to life in the Premier League.

Hwang memorably sat Virgil van Dijk down in front of the Kop before smashing a fine finish.

The other scorers for Salzburg that night were now-Liverpool ace Takumi Minamino and global star Erling Haaland.

Hwang even bagged a fine assist for Minamino in what was a superb night for the striker.

According to reports in Germany, Hwang snubbed a 2020 move to Liverpool in favour of joining Leipzig.

It seems that Liverpool have retained their interest in Hwang since then, and could move for him again in 2022.
