Liverpool and Manchester City fancy Matheus Nunes and will go head-to-head for the Wolverhampton Wanderers ace down the line.
Nunes became a star with Sporting over in Portugal, emerging as one of the top box-to-box midfielders in Europe.
The former Estoril star – who has switched from Brazil to Portugal on the international stage – was heavily linked with a number of clubs over the summer.
Wolves ended up winning the race, striking a deal worth around £42million to bring Nunes to Molineux.

Liverpool and Manchester City fancy Matheus Nunes
Nunes has impressed so far for Wolves, performing as a shining light in what has been a rather disappointing season for the club.
Some have already wondered just how long Nunes will be with Wolves no doubt facing interest in the 24-year-old in no time.
The Sunday Mirror (02/10, p78) report that both Liverpool and Manchester City are ‘maintaining a keen interest’ in Nunes.
It’s suggested that Nunes actually kept Wolves waiting over the summer as he hoped that Liverpool would make a move for him.
Liverpool chose not to sign him but have rekindled their interest in signing Nunes with Jurgen Klopp needing midfield additions in 2023.
Jude Bellingham is the key target for Liverpool but they will need alternative targets should the Borussia Dortmund star prove out of reach.
Nunes may well fit the bill and you can imagine he would be interested in a move to Anfield should the possibility arise.
The concern here is City.
Pep Guardiola’s men will be looking for another midfielder next summer as they look to stay ahead of the curve.
Guardiola hailed Nunes earlier this year so it’s clear that he is highly rated inside the Etihad Stadium.
City and Liverpool have become fierce rivals in recent years and they could now go head-to-head once again – this time for Nunes.
