Liverpool are making a U-turn on their interest in Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
Kalvin Phillips is a Liverpool target once again with the Reds previously shelving their interest in the Manchester City midfielder.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Liverpool are back in for Phillips right now.
It’s stated that Liverpool had initially disregarded a move for Phillips earlier in the window, ruling out a move for the City man.
However, Liverpool have now missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who are both heading to Chelsea.
Liverpool are now scrambling for a holding midfielder having lost both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabia.
That means Phillips is now back on the wish list and Liverpool are considering a move for him once again.
Other names are mentioned, such as Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure, but Phillips is wanted too.

Steven Gerrard rates Kalvin Phillips highly
Phillips only joined Manchester City last summer, completing a huge £45million move from Leeds United to the Etihad Stadium.
Phillips was outstanding for Leeds and City were happy to bring him in as competition for Rodri in the holding midfield role.
The 27-year-old really struggled for playing time last season though, starting just two Premier League games.

Phillips played just 291 Premier League minutes last season and it’s hard to see his fortunes changing this season.
A move to Liverpool may well appeal to Phillips and Steven Gerrard would certainly approve of such a switch.
Less than two months ago, Liverpool legend Gerrard backed Phillips to have a ‘fantastic’ second season at the Etihad Stadium.
Gerrard called Phillips a ‘high-class’ player despite a ‘frustrating’ season last term, showing faith in his ability despite his City struggles.
Gerrard may yet end up seeing Phillips head to Liverpool with the ex-Leeds star surely desperate to get his career back on track one way or another.
