Former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has posted on his Instagram story that he is hoping Manchester City don’t sign Chelsea midfielder, Mateo Kovacic.
The defender-turned-pundit has previously expressed a desire for the Reds to sign the Croatia star, who is now in the middle of a traffic jam at transfer-crazy Chelsea.
After spending record amounts in the summer, Todd Boehly didn’t think that was enough as he proceeded to break the club’s British transfer record for Enzo Fernandez in January.

All of this, of course, pushes Kovacic further away from Graham Potter’s first-team plans because he could probably field three starting XIs worth of international players if everyone was fit.
Either way, there are now suggestions that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are keen on taking the former Real Madrid man on board, especially given that he will have 12 months remaining on his Stamford Bridge contract in the summer.
But Enrique isn’t keen on Chelsea selling the 28-year-old to Man City, as he posted the following message:
“He is a top player,” said Enrique. “I hope it’s not true.”

KOVACIC IS AN UNDERRATED FIGURE
The technically-gifted star plays a much deeper role in the midfield, hence why he doesn’t probably produce the attacking numbers his talents state that he should.
But it still shouldn’t hide that he has this great ability to carry the ball from deep and produce magic from nothing.
Liverpool fans will know all about that following his quite outrageous volley against them last season, but whilst Chelsea might be willing to let him go, he’s not going to be short of offers in the summer.
