Jose Enrique has stated on his Instagram story that Graham Potter’s Chelsea ‘don’t have to worry’ about other teams trying to sign Liverpool transfer target Enzo Fernandez if they are going to pay ‘£105 million’ for the player.

Ahead of transfer deadline day, the former Liverpool left-back was reacting to claims from Fabrizio Romano on Instagram that Chelsea are ‘back in negotiations’ for the Benfica star.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp won’t see any new faces move to Anfield before Tuesday’s cut-off point, their fellow struggles are still splashing the cash and that on a player the Reds could very much do with.

Chelsea have been handing out long-term contracts to many of their big-money signings in order to get around FFP, or so it seems.

Well, with new rules set to be introduced in the summer where clubs can only hand out five-year deals to players, it has resulted in Chelsea changing tact and re-opening talks for World Cup winner, Fernandez.

Whilst there is little time left, it looks as though they will push for Fernandez again and Enrique thinks they are about to win another transfer battle because of how much money they are throwing at it.

“They don’t have to worry about other teams (beating) them (to Fernandez’s signing) if they are going to pay £105 million (120M Euros),” said Enrique, added with a laughing emoji.

WHO IS MORE LIKELY TO RISE – CHELSEA OR LIVERPOOL?

At the halfway stage of the season, the duo are locked in ninth and tenth respectively in the Premier League table and in big danger of missing out on Europe.

Whilst splashing the cash doesn’t solve everything, with the Reds needing investment and a boost, but not getting it, that might just seriously affect them during the second half of the season.

Whereas, for Graham Potter’s Chelsea, these new faces, such as Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk and possibly Argentina star, Enzo Fernandez, could provide them with the lifeline of saving a possible disastrous campaign.
