Luis Diaz has impressed the Italian press despite Liverpool’s huge 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Napoli on Wednesday night.

The Reds headed to a rather unhappy hunting ground as they faced Napoli away from home.

Liverpool had lost their last two games away at Napoli and that run became three in a row with a torrid display on Wednesday.

Piotr Zieliński had Napoli in front from the spot before Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Giovanni Simeone made it 3-0.

Zielinski added number four after the break and whilst Luis Diaz pulled one back, this was a truly terrible performance.

Luis Diaz has impressed the Italian press

So many players were off the pace once again.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez were run ragged in Liverpool’s right channel and James Milner struggled again.

Liverpool just don’t look like their usual selves and the Italian press have mostly slaughtered the Reds’ big names.

One player did escape their criticism though as winger Luis Diaz earned praise from Tuttomercatoweb.

Joe Gomez registered a 3/10, Virgil van Dijk 4/10 and Mohamed Salah just 4.5/10, but Diaz came in at 6.5 – the highest rating in the Liverpool side.

TMW praised Diaz as ‘the most dynamic and most dangerous’ player in a Liverpool shirt, hailing him for managing to escape two defenders when Napoli tried to double-mark him out of the game.

They added that Diaz was a ‘lonely man’ in his fight against Napoli, seemingly feeling that his Liverpool teammates offered him no help.

Diaz, 25, plays with the same intensity week in and week out; nothing seems to drop in terms of the Colombian’s approach.

Whilst some Liverpool players appear to be flat, Diaz keeps going and going; it’s no surprise that he scored Liverpool’s only goal in Naples.

Liverpool players could learn a lot from Diaz’s approach and we expect him to be absolutely vital for Jurgen Klopp in the coming weeks, months and even years.
