Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp isn’t planning to overload January signing Luis Diaz with tactical information until pre-season training.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claim that Klopp has deliberately not given Diaz too many tactical instructions.

Instead, Klopp just wants Diaz to be free and uninhibited in the final third, allowing him to just go and express himself.

A key factor under Klopp is work off the ball and the Liverpool boss still expects Diaz to work hard to regain possession.

Klopp is waiting until pre-season to really get Diaz fully up to speed with Liverpool’s tactical approach.

That’s a scary prospect for Premier League defenders, who may find that Diaz is an even bigger threat once he has time to work under Klopp.

Diaz has enjoyed a stunning start to life at Liverpool, causing absolutely mayhem for defenders in the Premier League and Champions League.

The hope will be that giving Diaz more tactical responsibilities doesn’t harshen his natural creativity, but it’s worked for the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

This may well explain why Diaz has been able to make such a fast start at Liverpool.

Andrew Robertson and Fabinho had to be brought along slowly after joining Liverpool, spending their first half-season on the fringes.

Klopp seemingly felt that both players needed a little more work before starting for Liverpool and now they’re absolutely vital.

Left back and holding midfield may just need tactical work from Klopp than a winger, needing defensive understanding in Klopp’s style.

In the case of Diaz, he’s able to just go and play freely as an attacking force before catching up tactically at the end of the season, when there is more time to work.

Should Diaz get even better over the summer, the Colombian may just make himself absolutely undroppable in this Liverpool side.
