Liverpool winger Luis Diaz was a constant menace against Chelsea as the Reds clinched the Carabao Cup in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Chelsea and Liverpool played out an enthralling encounter that somehow finished 0-0 after 90 minutes.

Extra time came and went without a goal, but there were a staggering four goals disallowed over the course of the game.

It went all the way to penalties and the standard was like nothing seen before. 21 successive spot kicks all found the net until Kepa Arrizabalaga – brought on to try and win the shootout for Chelsea – skied his penalty into the Liverpool fans.

Liverpool can celebrate another trophy under Jurgen Klopp, and this is Luis Diaz’s first piece of silverware with the Reds.

Diaz joined Liverpool in a huge January deal, arriving from Porto just as Tottenham thought they had the Colombian signed.

We’ve already seen incredible signs from Diaz, and today’s performance was another indication that he will become a Premier League star.

Diaz was a threat throughout against Chelsea, recording two shots on target whilst showing an outstanding ability to square up defenders and accelerate rapidly.

After Diaz was substituted, Liverpool’s lack of attacking threat was clear for all to see, with Diaz already making himself a vital player.

Many will now be praising Diaz’s performance and no doubt can’t wait to see more of him in a Liverpool shirt.

Match of the Day host and former England striker Gary Lineker is one such person, taking to Twitter to rave about Diaz.

Lineker suggested that Diaz looked ‘sharp’ against Chelsea and appears to be a real talent.

Sharp is exactly the right word. Everything Diaz did against Chelsea had real purpose, he was always looking to take on defenders and create openings.

Now, it’s not just Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota you have to worry about – it’s Diaz too.
