Liverpool linked Nicolo Zaniolo has been compared to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba previously.

According to Il Tempo, Liverpool are eager to sign the Roma star, with Roma potentially being forced to sell him.

Roma are thought to be struggling financially, and Zaniolo could be sacrificed.

If Liverpool were to sign him he could enhance the quality in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

And Roberto Mancini’s past comments on the Liverpool target may well interest supporters of the Anfield club.

“I’ve seen some qualities, he’s completely different from [Nicolo] Barella, Jorginho and [Marco] Verratti. He has the characteristics to do very well,” Mancini said to goal.com.

“The comparison with Pogba is there, but now he needs calm and patience or even he will get into trouble.”

Zaniolo isn’t built in the exact same mould as Pogba, but he does posses the same sort of technical quality as the French international.

The 20-year-old still has room to develop, but has already proven to be one of the stand out young players in Serie A.

If he was brought to Liverpool there could potentially be an opening for him in midfield.

The Reds have dominated the Premier League this term, but there is a feeling that they could add a more creative influence in their midfield.

And Zaniolo may be the perfect addition to take that role, as he could do the job at Anfield for the coming decade, if he was to join.
