Liverpool are eyeing up Brighton and Hove Albion left back Pervis Estupinan amid links with a move for teammate Moises Caicedo.

Moises Caicedo may not be the only Brighton and Hove Albion star wanted at Liverpool with Pervis Estupinan linked too.

That is according to a report from Football Transfers, who claim that Liverpool have expressed a ‘concrete interest’ in signing Estupinan.

It’s stated that Liverpool actually had the chance to sign Estupinan from Villarreal last summer but passed on the opportunity.

Brighton then signed him to replace Marc Cucurella following his move to Chelsea, with Estupinan shining last season.

All of the talk over the past 24 hours has been about Liverpool making a stunning move to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The Seagulls midfielder is seemingly on the verge of a staggering £110million move to Anfield after a deal was agreed in the early hours of the morning.

Yet it seems that Liverpool also have an interest in Estupinan, who is not only Caicedo’s teammate with Brighton but also with Ecuador.

Liverpool have already raided Brighton once this summer with a move for Alexis Mac Alliste and, in truth, it’s hard to see this one happening.

Pervis Estupinan to Liverpool sounds unlikely

We don’t doubt that Liverpool at least appreciate Estupinan’s quality.

The 25-year-old was a superb attacking threat for Brighton last season and really excelled under Roberto De Zerbi, who called him a ‘rough diamond’.

However, it’s hard to see Liverpool going for Estupinan even if you take the potential Caicedo deal out of the equation.

Liverpool appear to be utilising Trent Alexander-Arnold infield from the right back position, which we saw Manchester City do with John Stones last season.

City went down the route of playing Nathan Ake or Manuel Akanji at left back though, effectively forming a back three.

Liverpool don’t quite have the players to play this way right now with Andrew Robertson not exactly an ideal fit for such a role.

If Liverpool are going to commit to playing Alexander-Arnold in this role, then they may need a different profile at left back rather than the wide, attack-minded Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas and Estupinan.

Maybe Liverpool ditch it and believe that Estupinan can eventually take over from Robertson but we can’t see the Reds making a move right now, nor can we see Brighton being open to selling.
