Liverpool seem to be in pole position to sign Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara this summer. (Bild) The Spaniard reportedly wants a move to Anfield but nothing is finalised just yet.

As we have seen many times before, a potential deal could come to nothing in the coming weeks if Liverpool fail to agree a deal with Bayern Munich. That would force Jurgen Klopp to look at his other options and one of his targets could be available this summer.

FC Inter News claimed back in February that Liverpool had sent scouts to watch Marcelo Brozovic. The Croation midfielder is one of the best in his position in the Serie A and his addition would certainly improve the Reds.

Liverpool suffered a blow two months later when CalcioMercato claimed that Inter Milan were trying to tie him down to a long-term deal which would have meant that he was going nowhere.

Klopp, as a result, turned his attention to Thiago and the Spaniard looks to be their number one target now. However, the Liverpool boss’ head could be turned now if a latest report is to be believed.

CalcioMercato claimed earlier this week that Inter boss Antonio Conte isn’t satisfied with Brozovic’s performances. The player himself is considering his future now according to the report which could open the door for Liverpool if they are still interested.

Thiago or Brozovic; who should Liverpool go for?

Brozovic has three goals and six assists to his name in all competitions this season. The Croatian is positionally brilliant and he is versatile enough to play anywhere in central midfield.

Still only 27, Brozovic is younger than Thiago as well which gives Liverpool a lot more value for their money. However, his transfer fee is likely to be a huge one because of a £54 million release clause in his contract. (Calciomercato)

The problems between Conte and Brozovic could potentially help Liverpool lower that fee if the Croatian demands to leave in the coming weeks. If a move is feasible, the Inter Milan man is a far more sensible option than Thiago and Klopp should prefer him over the Spaniard this summer.
