Liverpool-linked Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Håland has broken a Champions League record, previously set by Tottenham’s Harry Kane as revealed by the BBC.

The Norway international became the fastest player in history to score 14 Champions League goals with his two-goal haul against Club Brugge on Wednesday.

It took Håland just 11 games in Europe’s greatest club competition to reach the tally, which is quite simply incredible.

The previous record holder in this department was Tottenham’s £200,000-a-week (Spotrac) talisman, who scored his first 14 Champions League goals in 17 games as the BBC state.

To break the record, and do so in six games fewer, means Håland smashed Kane’s achievement with flying colours.

The former RB Salzburg striker has been linked with a move to Anfield after RB Salzburg’s Sporting Director, Christoph Freund, said his former associate will move to Merseyside.

Freund told Sky Sports (via Goal): ‘That’s where he will land. He can play for any club in the world.’

The BBC also add that Håland has now scored against all seven opponents he’s faced in the Champions League, which again is a remarkable feat for any player to achieve, let alone a 20-year-old.

Since moving to Borussia Dortmund in January for £17.1 million, he has netted an incredible 26 goals in just 28 games, again revealed by the BBC.

Former Dortmund player Sebastian Kehl has waxed lyrical about the youngster.

Re:Jerusalem quote him as saying: ‘Erling is a goal machine.’

Just imagine Håland under Jurgen Klopp, flanked by Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

That is quite truly a mouthwatering prospect, to say the very least.
