Lille striker Jonathan David has been targeted by Liverpool recently, and he is now in superb form start to the new season.

The Canadian hitman is in action tonight as they take on Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.

Liverpool may be watching the game for Salzburg hitman Karim Adeyemi, but David also appears to be on their radar for 2022.

Liverpool’s interest in David

David was on Liverpool’s radar during his time with Gent, with Walfoot reporting in 2020 that the Reds had been scouting him.

Reports of Liverpool’s interest resurfaced in August of this year.

TSN Sports in David’s native Canada reported that the 21-year-old is ‘very high’ on Liverpool’s list of striker targets.

Roberto Firmino turns 30 soon, and Liverpool may look for another option in attack.

David is young with blistering pace and a great goalscoring record, so the interest isn’t a huge shock.

David in superb form this season

David has started the season brilliantly with Lille.

Saturday’s brace in the 2-1 win over Strasbourg has taken David to four goals in eight league outings this season.

If David keeps up this kind of goalscoring form, Liverpool would surely be very keen on a 2022 move.

David ticks many boxes for Liverpool, and with Michael Edwards seemingly keen, the Reds will surely have one eye on him tonight and over the coming months.
