Liverpool talent Leighton Clarkson has continued his progress at Aberdeen after scoring a goal against Rangers that left everybody stunned.
The Reds, much like most Premier League clubs at this point, have a host of players out on loan trying to improve and develop.
Clarkson is one of them and he really needed a successful loan spell this season.
The 21-year-old joined hometown club Blackburn Rovers on loan last season, but was sent back to Anfield halfway through after just seven league outings.
When a move to your hometown club doesn’t work out, you may start to wonder where the success is going to come.
The answer for Clarkson has been Aberdeen, having agreed to spend this season on loan at Pittodrie.

Liverpool talent Clarkson scores another screamer
The key feature of Clarkson’s time at Aberdeen has been long-range goals that Steven Gerrard would be proud of in his playing days.
Clarkson smashed home an absolute piledriver against St Mirren to open his account for the Dons.
Just a couple of weeks later, Clarkson whipped a stunning free kick into the top corner against St Johnstone.
Clarkson’s next league goal came in November, and whilst it wasn’t a long-range effort, it was still a beauty as he scored a back heel against Hibernian.
The Liverpool loanee was at it again on Tuesday night as he scored a superb volley to put Aberdeen 2-1 up against Rangers.
“That is pretty special,” said commentator Ian Crocker on Sky Sports. “But then he specialises in the spectacular,” he added.
Taking one touch to set the ball up, Clarkson smashed his volley beyond Allan McGregor and send PIttodrie absolutely wild.
Sadly, the night ended in heartbreak for Aberdeen as they conceded two injury-time goals to Scott Arfield, handing Rangers a 3-2 win.
Liverpool will at least be delighted with Clarkson’s progress and would love to see him score a few more screamers – even if it just bumps up his value for an eventual sale rather than first-team minutes at Anfield.
