Steve Nicol has stated that if he had a choice then he would sign Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey and Manchester City playmaker Kevin de Bruyne for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, as he told ESPN.

The Anfield legend had the opportunity to pick between any of Arsenal or Manchester City players, as he opted for the midfield two.

Even though he initially forgot about the goal machine, Erling Haaland, Nicol stuck by his original comments and added that it’s a ‘fantastic’ decision.

Someone like Partey is exactly what Liverpool need in the middle of the park right now because, with half of the season to play, they look worn out.

It also needs to be remembered that a number of players had a rest during the World Cup break, yet they are like a heavyweight boxer in the latter rounds of their title fight.

Nonetheless, this is what Nicol had to say about who he would sign from Arsenal and Man City to solve Liverpool’s issues.

“Partey and de Bruyne,” responded Nicol. “Two fantastic players and two fantastic choices. I wouldn’t change it, even if you let me.”

TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY

For Manchester City, they don’t really need to do much ahead of transfer deadline day because of the incredible squad depth Pep Guardiola can pick from.

But it’s a different story for the Premier League leaders, who are searching for that defensive-minded midfielder to boost their chances of winning the title.

And whilst Guardiola and Arteta can rely on their club to dip into the market if they wanted, that’s not the case for Klopp at Liverpool, who has only been backed with the signing of Dutch winger, Cody Gakpo.
