Jamie Carragher was seen laughing with Liverpool target Ruben Neves on Friday evening – a player who Manchester United also want to sign.
What’s the story?
Well, it was SPORT who revealed that Jürgen Klopp and Erik ten Hag both want to sign the Portugal international.
Neves has become an admired figure by some of England’s leading clubs after racking up 165 Premier League appearances for Wolves, where he has become well known for his ability to score from long range following a £15m move from Porto in 2017.
Now, Carragher – a Liverpool legend after making 737 appearances for the Reds – may be attempting to tap the Wolves No.8 up as Klopp aims to bring him to Anfield.
In a video posted by Wolves on their official Twitter account ahead of Friday’s 1-1 draw against Fulham, the 45-year-old can be seen laughing with Neves, who gives the Sky Sports pundit a playful shove before walking off.
If we were to guess what had been said, it could be assumed that Carragher asked him when he’s coming to Liverpool based on the nature of the shove, as the Portuguese maestro walked away laughing.
You can see the pair’s interaction after the 30 second mark in the video below.
Kelly Cates even joked that Carragher was trying to tap Neves up during the pre-match buildup at Craven Cottage, to which the Liverpool legend replied: “What goes on in the green room, stays in the green room, Kelly. We’ve all got little different avenues.”
Liverpool & Manchester United both need Neves
It wouldn’t surprise us to see a bidding war commence between Liverpool and Manchester United for Neves this summer, as both Klopp and Ten Hag need a new midfielder.

The Red Devils were required to bring Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich in an emergency January deal after Christian Eriksen suffered a serious injury, highlighting how thin the midfield department is at Old Trafford.
In regards to Liverpool, Klopp’s options are either too injury prone – such as Thiago Alcantara – or past their best, which could be said of James Milner and Jordan Henderson.
Be sure to keep an eye on Neves this summer, as he could be on the move.
