The Real Madrid ace would be a truly blockbuster signing for Liverpool.

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign Gareth Bale, telling the Daily Star that he believes the German could get the best out of the Welshman.

The 30-year-old was close to moving to China last week, but Madrid pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute.

Bale is clearly not wanted by Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu, however, so a move away could surely still happen.

And Lawrenson believes that Liverpool might just be the place for him to breathe fire back into his flagging career.

The former Reds defender told the Daily Star:

“I think Klopp could get the best out of him. The only problem is would he fit into that front three but you could even play him on the left of the three in midfield and let him bomb on. He’s such a good player and such a talent. He just needs to be loved and Klopp would be the perfect fit to do that.”

One huge problem would be the Wales international’s wages, however.

According to the Mirror, Bale earns a whopping £650,000 per week at Madrid, and Liverpool would surely not be able to pay him anywhere near that amount.

It might also be hard for Klopp to fit the Madrid ace into his front three, although he really is such a good player, that the German would just have to find a way.

A lot of things still need to happen, however, if Liverpool are to sign Bale, and as things stand, it is nothing more than just a suggestion from a former player.

Stranger things have happened though.
