Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has posted on his Instagram story ‘turncoat’ and ‘good luck’ after Conor Coady joined Everton from Wolves on Monday night.

Everton announced on Twitter that Coady has joined on a season-long loan from Wolves and he will don the number 30 shirt for Frank Lampard’s side.

Coady began his career in the colours of Liverpool, making one appearance, when Carragher was at the club, before he moved onto pastures new and started to pick up his career elsewhere.

That included the 29-year-old signing for Wolves in 2015, captaining the Midlands side, helping them earn promotion to the Premier League, and taking them to an FA Cup semi-final, as well as several trips across Europe.

Despite being such a key figure for Wolves over the years, Bruno Lage decided that he was no longer part of his plans this season, with youngster, Nathan Collins, joining from Burnley this summer.

Over the weekend, during Wolves’ 2-1 defeat at Leeds, Collins played at the back alongside rising star Max Kilman, with Lage switching from a back three to a back four.

COADY IS A BRILLIANT SIGNING FOR EVERTON

Coady isn’t the first player to represent both Everton and Liverpool and he won’t be the last.

It needs to be remembered that Carragher himself is a boyhood Everton fan, yet he went on to become a Liverpool legend because your profession, at the end of the day, is your profession.

And Coady is a professional, so whilst for some, it will be weird seeing him in Everton colours because he was once on the other side, at the end of the day, this is all the best for his career.

He wants to remain part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup and, in order for that to happen, he needs regular minutes and he will get that at Goodison Park.

Added with that, this is an outstanding signing for the Toffees, who need that added quality and depth, especially with Ben Godfrey recently suffering a long-term injury.
