Liverpool are due to face Leeds United in EFL Cup action later this evening.
Liverpool legend Ian Rush has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 29th November, that he has nothing but respect for Leeds United fans.
Leeds have sold out every one of their away allocations so far this season, and they will be taking a huge number of fans to Anfield tonight for the EFL Cup quarter-final.
When Rush was playing, he was part of a Liverpool team who were locked in battles with Leeds regularly, and the striker has nothing but positive words for the Yorkshire side’s support.
‘They’re one of six teams in the UK who have sold out every away game,” Rush said. “That tells me how good Leeds supporters are.
“I tell you one thing about them, they’re support is absolutely fantastic.”
Leeds go into their match against Liverpool this evening as the underdogs to progress in the cup, but they are in good form.
The Whites have put together a strong campaign under Garry Monk so far, and they currently sit in fifth place in the Championship table.
Leeds have so far rotated their team in the EFL Cup, but Monk is expected to go with a strong line-up at Anfield this evening.
Leeds have made it this far in the competition by beating Fleetwood Town, Luton Town, Blackburn Rovers and Norwich City.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have got past Burton Albion, Derby County and Tottenham Hotspur to progress to this stage.
