A round up of the latest news and gossip connected to Liverpool.

The BBC will release previously unseen footage of the Hillsborough disaster as part of new inquests into the deaths of 96 fans. The coroner in charge of the case has confirmed he’s ‘committed’ to make sure they have started by next spring.

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish says Brendan Rodgers is in complete control of the first team at the club. Dalglish has returned to Liverpool as a director and says he will not mess with team affairs.

“If you’re coming back to help the football club in any way, you certainly don’t want to come back to hinder. We’ll be in close proximity but Brendan is in charge of the team 100 percent,” Dalglish told the Liverpool Echo.

Rodgers has spoken on Dalglish’s return suggesting that bringing club legends back into the fold is crucial for the club’s long term success. Rodgers says it was all part of the plan to bring back Liverpool icons and get them involved in various sections of the club.

Rodgers has also had some comments to make, with regards to the club’s current attacking pairing of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez. Rodgers has warned the club’s rivals there is more to come.

“I think as a partnership Luis and Daniel can get even better. In training you can see the link-up play, they know instinctively where the other is going,” said the boss.

Rodgers’ relationship with the club could have been very different according to current QPR boss Harry Redknapp. Redknapp has revealed in his autobiography that he asked Rodgers to become his number two with the England national side if the former Spurs boss had been offered the job.

Midfielder Jordan Henderson is another player who has piled the praise onto centre forward Sturridge, saying the striker has benefited from being able to play regular first team football.

“Daniel’s always been a confident lad, but now he’s been given the opportunity to play as a striker every week in the Premier League and I think he has benefited from that,” Henderson told the Liverpool website.

In transfer news, the agent of Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore has revealed the player will move on this January if the right offer comes in. Liverpool have been linked with the Ivorian forward over the last few weeks and speculation continues to linger with reports of a possible £15 million offer.

Liverpool legend John Barnes has revealed he is eager to return to the club in some form of coaching role. Barnes has suggested he would take a job if it was offered to him and feels he could benefit the club in several ways as he understands what it means to represent Liverpool.

In a more random news story, TalkSport has released a table which shows Liverpool would be fourth in the league had the season started in January. Liverpool had made a cracking start to the season and the ultimate aim for Brendan Rodgers will still be securing Champions League football for next season.
