As the season draws ever closer, we take a look at all the news and gossip surrounding the Merseyside club.
If today’s Metro is to be believed then Liverpool are closing in on a double swoop for Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin and Barcelona winger Cristian Tello. Liverpool Kop have today reported that Manchester City target, Daniel Agger has suggested that the potential decision to sell him lies solely with owners FSG (Fenway Sports Group) and not with manager Brendan Rodgers. The article goes on to look at Agger’s Liverpool career stats and why it could be the wrong the decision to reject a bid from City – it really does make for some interesting reading.

Some better news for Reds fans though is that Martin Skrtel is set to commit his future to the club by signing a new four-year contract. BBC Sport remind us that Agger has made no secret that he would prefer to stay at Anfield and even had the initials of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” tattooed on to his knuckles. They also analyse the daunting task facing new manager, Rodgers and take a view on the pressures of being in the Liverpool hot-seat. There is a lot of work to be done to turn the club back into a top-four side but with his free-flowing football style, Rodgers could well be the man to do it.
Today on Here Is The City two Liverpool articles have asked whether Raheem Sterling has played his way into Liverpool’s first team plans after his goal against Leverkusen at the weekend, and if Kolo Toure could be included as part of a swap deal with Daniel Agger.
And finally… The official Liverpool website have revealed how one of the first things Brendan Rodgers did upon taking the manager’s job was to change the nets at Anfield back to red – obviously keen to earn some brownie points of the Kop and why not?!
