Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is locked in a race against time to be fit for the Merseyside derby against Everton this weekend. Reina is carrying a hamstring injury and has been replaced for the time being by Brad Jones. Reina is unlikely to be back in time for Liverpool’s Europa League match against Anzhi.

Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones has said that he will be doing everything within his power to keep Pepe Reina out of the side. Jones currently holds the number one spot and a good performance against Anzhi could mean he starts in the Merseyside derby over the weekend.

Andy Carroll has spoken out about his loan move from Liverpool to West Ham, saying he was not given a fair chance to prove himself at the club. Liverpool spent £35 million to sign Carroll from Newcastle United but Brenan Rodgers farmed the striker out on loan to West Ham.

Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has hinted that he would be keen to return to Liverpool in the future. The Ajax midfielder was considered a flop during his time at Anfield but he has suggested that he is a much better player and would have more to offer during a second spell and that he still loves the club.

Liverpool target Christian Eriksen has revealed that he turned down a deal to join Manchester City over the summer. The Ajax star reportedly took ten seconds to think about the move before refusing as he wanted to develop his game in a safer environment with Ajax. Eriksen was reportedly offered a big money deal to play his football in Manchester.

Liverpool are one of many clubs being linked with Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar after his refusal to talk about a new contract with Schalke. If he refuses to sign on then it would mean the German side would have to sell the striker to get some compensation. Liverpool are a candidate due to the lack of strikers at the club.

The agent of Jeremain Lens has played down rumours linking Liverpool to the PSV Eindhoven star. Lens is thought to be a cut price but high quality striker who could be on the move in January but his agent has confirmed that the Merseyside club are yet to make an approach to him over the player.

New England Patriots chief Robert Kraft has said he is happy that he never agreed a deal to buy Liverpool. Kraft was linked with the club six years ago but did not go through with any deal due to the stadium situation at Anfield. He has confirmed that he is happy he never agreed, what would have been, a large but difficult process.
