All of the latest news about Liverpool FC from the last 24 hours.
Liverpool will make an audacious bid to sign Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge on loan in January. Sturridge is out of favour at Chelsea and with Liverpool reluctant to make a bid of £20 million to sign him, a loan move could be a more realistic option. Brendan Rodgers is actively hunting for strikers to aid Luis Suarez.
Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish has said that talented young winger Wilfried Zaha will not leave the club for a penny under £20 million. Zaha is being tracked by Liverpool and Arsenal with both clubs under pressure to sort out a deal before the January transfer window opens. Zaha can play on either wing or up front as a striker.
Liverpool are sweating over the fitness of goalkeeper Pepe Reina ahead of the Premier League match against Reading this weekend. Reina injured a hamstring as he warmed up for Spain’s World Cup qualifying match against France. If he is not fit enough to take his place it could mean a start for back up goalkeeper Brad Jones.
Liverpool have ruled themselves out of the running to sign Aston Villa striker Darren Bent. Bent is thought to be seeking a move away from the Midlands club with Liverpool an obvious choice to sign him considering their lack of strikers. However, the club have not made any statement suggesting they will try and sign the England international in January.
The agent of Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has claimed that Liverpool are scouting the player. Brozovic is a Croatian Under-21 international who is currently valued at three and a half million Euros by his club. Liverpool could make an offer with a view to the deal going through this January when the transfer window opens.
Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin has tipped manager Brendan Rodgers to bring success to the club. Sahin is on loan at Liverpool from Real Madrid and he has been given a recent run of games in the first team as Rodgers seeks to change the way that Liverpool play football. Sahin has said that Rodgers is one of the only reasons he agreed to join the club.
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has said that the entire England Under-21 side deserve credit for the way they handled the European Championship play-off match in Serbia. The Liverpool play maker protected a number of players after the final whistle when emotions spilled over following constant racist abuse throughout the match towards England’s coloured players.
Liverpool have launched an official app for the Windows Phone 7. The app will provide users with text commentary from all Liverpool games, a prompt match report on the final whistle and up to date news and information about the club. The app can be downloaded from the club’s website or via any decent app market.
