A round up of the latest news stories about Liverpool from the past 24 hours.
Luis Suarez says he’s dreaming of winning the Premier League title with the club. Suarez signed a new long term contract with Liverpool last week to become the highest paid player in the club’s history.
“I hope to win the league and a big trophy with Liverpool. It’s my dream. When I win that, I will remember my family,” he told the Liverpool website.
The new contract is something which Brendan Rodgers believes will help the club to sign a higher quality of player in the transfer market, while Suarez is at Anfield.
“Good players want to play with good players. When you’ve got a world-class player like Suarez, and we’ve got a number of other young players improving, our selling point is the team and the philosophy,” said Rodgers as per the Daily Star.
Current midfielder Joe Allen has also had his say on the new deal, revealing it’s given everyone in the current squad a huge boost. Allen says it’s fantastic news for everyone connected with the club that Suarez is staying put.
In other news, Liverpool legend Alan Hansen has suggested that the team Rafa Benitez had in 2008 is stronger than the current eleven that Brendan Rodgers has available.
“The team which led the Premier League on Christmas Day 2008 was a really good one – they ultimately finished second to Manchester United, but it was a stronger team than the one exceeding all expectations under Brendan Rodgers,” said the Scot.
In transfer news, the speculation surrounding the future of former Liverpool star Xabi Alonso shows no signs of easing up. Alonso has been linked with a move back to Anfield for several months as there is no official sign of a new contract under Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

Another star Liverpool may struggle to get their hand on is Hakan Calhanoglu of Hamburg. The player himself has confirmed interest from Turkish club Galatasaray and says his agent is talking to the side.
“It’s true that Roberto Mancini wants me and I hope one day to be able to work with him because he is a great coach. My agent is in contact with Galatasaray,” he told Turkish TV station Beyaz TV.
There are reports that are suggesting Brendan Rodgers will dip into the Football League for one of his next signings. The Daily star has claimed Rodgers is interested in 21-year-old Oldham Athletic star James Tarkowski who has been turning heads with some impressive performances this season.
A potential story to keep an eye on relates to Sevilla’s Ivan Rakitic. Reports this morning claimed that Liverpool had a scout at Sevilla’s win against Villarreal watching the player as he came up with two vital assists in the victory.
