Kacper Kozlowski admits he “dreams” of playing for a major European club but has played down suggestions of a January move to Premier League giants Liverpool, speaking to Sport Interia.

As you might expect given the Pogon Szczecin midfielder has been labelled the ‘next Kevin De Bruyne’, Kozlowski has no problems trying to see the bigger picture.

Reported interest from the likes of AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and six-time European champions Liverpool would be enough to send many young players off the rails.

Kozlowski, however, understands the importance of taking things one step at a time.

“I try to cut myself off from this type of information and let my agent handle it,” said the five-cap Poland international when asked about those links with Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League pace-setters.

“I don’t know what I’ll do tomorrow, much less whether I will finish the season in Pogon or leave in winter – I don’t think about it, I do my own thing. And big names? They do not impress me.

“My dream is to play for this type of (big) club in the future but I think the best thing to do is to apply the principle of small steps to reach the goal.”

Liverpool ‘closing in’ on Kacper Kozlowski

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are closing in on a deal that would see Kozlowski move to Anfield in the January transfer window.

But Kozlowski, who replaced another Reds target Jude Bellingham, as the youngest player to feature in the European Championships in the summer, is under no illusions.

He isn’t the finished article yet.

“The coach suggested I should score more so I’m trying to do it,” says the teenager, who has found the net just three times in 12 games this season.

“As a midfielder, I would like to have more assists as well. I care about that. My goal is (to score) eight goals in the current league season but, if I manage to score more, I will not be upset!”
