Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that he is pleased that the Reds signed Luis Diaz from FC Porto in the January transfer window and has praised him.

Klopp has said that Liverpool winger Diaz is already world class and has helped the team a great deal since his transfer in the middle of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United were linked with the 25-year-old in January, but Liverpool eventually got the deal done for £37 million.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool winger Luis Diaz

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Diaz: “An unbelievable impact, clear. There’s enough space in each squad in the world for a world-class player – that’s what Luis is, that’s why we were so desperate to get him and that’s why we were so happy that we could get him.

“It makes all the difference. If you go through our games in the Champions League when we played Porto, he was still there, so it’s a really strange situation. Now he goes with us to the final, which is absolutely outstanding.

“You could see what it means to him. Yes, involving an outstanding player is good for each squad and was good for us, definitely – not only because we had the African Cup when the boys were not here, but because of that as well. Thank God we made that decision because it helped everywhere.”

Big impact

In our opinion, Diaz has made a big impact at Liverpool and could still prove even more important for the Merseyside club in the final weeks of the season.

The winger played his role in Liverpool winning the Carabao Cup, and now he will be determined to help the Reds clinch the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League in the final weeks of the campaign.

Diaz has scored three goals and given two assists in eight Premier League starts for Liverpool.

The 25-year-old winger has also scored two goals and provided one assist in three Champions League starts for the Reds.

In our view, Diaz could prove to be a bargain signing for Liverpool, especially when you consider that he is only 25, so his best years are ahead of him.
