Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he was pleased with how Harvey Elliott performed in a new midfield role on Tuesday evening.
The Reds played two pre-season friendlies on Tuesday, taking on Wacker Innsbruck and Stuttgart in 30-minute clashes over in Austria.
Both games ended in 1-1 draws, and Liverpool will be looking to ramp up their preparations for the new season in the coming weeks.
Boss Klopp has been experimenting a little in pre-season, utilising midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in more of a flash nine role.
Another experiment was seen on Tuesday as winger Elliott was given a new role against Stuttgart.
The teenager played as more of a central midfielder with James Milner and Naby Keita, but was given freedom to move forward and take up half-spaces in the right channel.
Elliott, 18, hit seven goals and 11 assists in 42 games on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season and will now be hoping for a first-team role at Anfield this coming season.

Whilst able to offer support for Mohamed Salah on the right side, Elliott has now shown that he can also play in a midfield role.
Klopp has told the Liverpool official website that he thought Elliott ‘looked good’ in an unfamiliar role, hinting that we could see him play there more regularly.
“I don’t think Harvey had ever played that position for us, but looked good,” said Klopp.
